Jamie Paolinetti's Feature-Length Documentary film "The Hard Road" will
premiere at Oakley's Interplanetary Headquarters in Foothill Ranch, CA on
Saturday March 8th. Taking you inside the experience of a first-year American
professional cycling team, "The Hard Road" reveals the true grit, determination
and sacrifice of these remarkable athletes as they strive to pursue their
passion at any cost.
The film follows the upstart NetZero team through an entire season as they
experience the highs and lows that are inseparable from the sport of
professional cycling. It takes the viewer into the belly of the beast as
seasoned racers Graeme Miller and Jamie Paolinetti mentor a team of neo-pros
who dream of breaking into the ultra-elite ranks of the pro peloton. Competing
in this country's most prestigious and demanding events, the team takes on the
US Pro Championship Road Race, the US Pro Criterium Championships, the Athens
Twilight Criterium, the Manhattan Beach Grand Prix, and many more.
Share the riders' struggles both on and off the bike as they face financial
hardship, family pressures and the uncertainty of the future in what is surely
the most volatile of all professional sports.
Written, directed and edited by veteran American cyclist and filmmaker Jamie
Paolinetti, and shot entirely on GL-1 and XL-1 video cameras by the Greg St.
Johns. "The Hard Road" is a unique and fascinating look at this thriving
subculture.

ABOUT JAMIE PAOLINETTI
Jamie Paolinetti received his undergraduate degree from UC Irvine in
California. He attended film school at UCLA, studying the curriculum for the
certificate film program, as well as a number of other courses in the dramatic
arts. While attending UCLA, Jamie began advanced study of the Stanislavski
Method for actors and directors at the Theatre Group Studio in Los Angeles,
which he has continued over the last five years.
Getting his start in the commercial world, Jamie has written, produced or
directed more than fifty commercial spots, which have aired on various TV
networks. He has one short film and three screenplays to his writing credit. He
also served as a technical consultant on the hit television program, “Ocean
Blue.”
In addition to writing for the screen, Jamie is a playwright. Working
extensively in the theater, he has two original pieces to his credit, one of
which was produced and performed by a theater company in Santa Monica,
California.
The Hard Road is Jamie's most ambitious project to date: a feature-length
documentary, which he wrote, directed, and edited. Currently under review by a
number of cable networks, it will be submitted to festivals in 2003, made
available on home video and DVD the same year, and will be seen in limited
screenings in conjunction with cycling events across the country.
